My friends (the Porters) in the United States had a quite good library.
Before I returned to Brazil I decided to photograph some relics they had. It took some five minutes to push the camera button to click this one. That was the time I took to realize Giant Water Lillies flowers are not pollinated by hummingbirds but beatles and rolling stones.
Later I learnt from Jonh Gould's great-grandson, who I met when lecturing on the m/s Explorer, that he never visit the Amazon the paint was based in a sample at Kew Gardens.
